Beach Volleyball

Shockwave Rebound Volleyball operates four courts for beach volleyball players from beginner to advanced level in a friendly atmosphere at Ferny Grove.

Players can join a team individually or be part of a team of friends and take part in nightly competitions. Competitions and team game times are published in advance on their website and organised in varied formats on different nights.

Where beach volleyball is generally played in an open court without nets, rebound beach volleyball introduces a twist where the ball is still in play where it hits the side nets. This makes the game quicker and easier to play, players quickly become accustomed to the rebound effect. With each match taking around 45 mins to complete, beach volleyball is suitable for males and females of all ages and fitness levels, it’s a fun experience for everyone.

Teams are generally made up of four but can be played with three players and for the more experienced players, can be few as two. Uniquely we have whole families who play beach volleyball as a team in nightly competition. The game is played in beach sand hence a need for lightly fitting clothing without shoes and socks. Every match is allocated an experienced umpire to officiate so all players have to worry about is being at their game on time.

For those interested Shockwave often submits teams in tournaments held throughout Queensland. Tournaments are fun and a great way to get to know others who also love playing beach volleyball. In addition, Shockwave also offers adult and junior coaching where skills can be refined and practiced further. Players who take part in our training sessions often tell us how it has improved their game. At Shockwave we love all things beach volleyball, come and give it a free try.

Beach volleyball operates at The Grove Sports Club, Ferny Grove between the hours of 5 – 9:30pm Monday to Thursday.
